I painted this series (with some help from my son) for my husband’s birthday. Each square canvas represents one of us — the Resting Daddy sitting on the sand, the Exploring Son not yet grown into his flippers blowing bubbles and the Soaring Momma chasing the dancing light at the water’s surface.
It took about a week or so, but I only finished the Resting Daddy and Exploring Son in time for my husband’s birthday and had to finish the Soaring Momma one afterwards. He didn’t mind though. He has always loves my artwork and the process.
Acrylics on canvas. I used photos for reference as this was my first attempt at painting animals. There are some areas that I don’t like and other areas that I completely love. The neck of the Resting Dad took forever, I fiddled with it so much, but it turned out to be my favorite part, the folds and shadows ended up beautiful. I had intended them to be hung all next to each other, but they ended up fitting nicely near my husband’s desk for him to see everyday.
