This collection started out as one fabric, April Showers Bring May Flowers, which I submitted for one of Spoonflower’s contests. For the contest, we had to use a defined color scheme and design a floral cheater quilt. (A cheater quilt fabric designed in a such a way that it looks like a pieced quilt but all you have to do is sew around the boxes and it looks like you made it all yourself!) It received a lot of votes based on its unique take on the theme compared to the other submissions.
While I originally designed it for a contest, I fell in love with the cute umbrella and raindrops that they became the prominent motif throughout the April Showers collection. The coolest part? The raindrops and the flower petals are actually the same vector shapes — just arranged differently.
