I finished the Yosemite Valley for our landscape art for the winter time. I think it’s the painting I am most proud of thus far!
Despite its simplicity it was the third panel which was the most challenging. You’d expect it to be the first panel with the Royal Arches and North Dome or maybe getting the highlights and shadows just right on Half Dome on the middle panel. But, without any significant focal point, the third panel was too simple. It took a day or two and some suggestions from family members before I settled on adding the bare tree trunks and snow capped bush.
Acrylic on three canvas panels. It was painted with no brushes, only knives, toothpicks and paper towel. Pearlescent paints were used on the snow and golden tree leaves so as your or the light moves, different parts of the painting are highlighted.
